Zits Zits Zits! By: Gregory Henshaw
Acne, sometimes known as Zits, is a menace to people who suffer from this condition; fortunately, the problems it causes are being investigated. A great deal of money is being spent researching the condition; recent medical advancements are, in fact, proving to be very effective in treating this condition. There are a broad range of acne skin care products available:
- Drugstore: Preventative treatment
- Internet or Drugstore: Treatment to help relieve the condition
- Prescription only: Requires visit to doctor
Preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to control the occurrence of acne; for example, special toners and skin cleansers. Whilst many sufferers use these products there are even more who just want to keep their skin clean and conditioned; many use these products to protect their skin from the environment even if they do not have the acne condition. Other acne skin care products, like skin cleansers for instance, are more specific about their job; they ensure the facial pores (and other areas) remain free of oil. These skin care products are designed to prevent this from happening.
Exfoliation skin peels have proved quite effective as a skin care treatment and at controlling the problem; these are easily obtainable in any drug store. They work by reducing oil plus other contaminants from the skin and in the pores; this can reduce harmful bacteria and stop their chance of growth. There is a huge market for these types of acne skin care products as they don't require a consultation with a dermatologist. These products have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid as ingredients which cause a bad reaction in the bacterium. these include creams, cleansers and peels that slow down acne formation.
Although benzoyl peroxide works well, reactions can happen so it is suggested that any skin care product containing this should not have more than 5.5 percent of the active ingredient; should a reaction occur, products containing alpha hydroxy acid are generally safer. It is not always possible to find an acne skin care product that works first time; if finding something that works is proving difficult, your dermatologist should be able to help. Products that your dermatologist or doctor will recommend will only be available on prescription, they may include a course of antibiotics or topical ointments.
Your doctor can recommend that in order to extract the contents of the pustules that a small surgical procedure could be carried out; specialists never recommend the sufferer tries this themselves as it can cause permanent skin damage. An alternative that has been shown to work well is hormone therapy; this type of skin care treatment has been very effective in many cases. There is no longer any reason to despair if you have this skin complaint or are prone to its effects.
